Do any of you my wise and diverse readers have any ideas for readings, several paragraphs, no more than two pages, I could assign to my students. They are adults and have a good grasp on English and I think readings would be a helpful addition.
Here are the boundaries:
Appropriate (not that I am really worried that any of you would suggest what is not.)
Accessible on-line. So I can either copy, paste, print or give the web address.
Not overly difficult. But still challenging is fine.
Aside from these the whole world is yours. I would like to hear your ideas.

Is poetry an option?
And what is the purpose of this reading - just to get a better picture of the english language?
Poetry is an option but in lesser amounts due to the fact that it often does not work in a day to day manner.
The readings are for practice in comprehension, vocabulary and a greater appreciation for English in a written form; both creatively and for conveying information, such as news sources. Basically to show how to use English as a fine tool, a difficult thing to do with a foreign language.
i used news articles a lot w/ my older students--interesting to them b/c it's relevant. just proof to make sure the vocabulary isn't too difficult. news.bbc.co.uk is a great source.
